Statement of Doctrine

New Hope Baptist Church

* We teach that the Bible is the Holy Word of God, that Jesus Christ is the Word, that it is inerrant and sovereign; it is God’s written and inspired revelation to man, and the entire (66) books of the Bible are God-breathed, infallible, and facilitated to us by Holy Spirit (2Timoty 3:16).

* We teach that there is but one true and sovereign God; and that He is righteous, infinite, all knowing, and perfect in all of His attributes; one in essence, eternally existing in (3) persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each One equally deserving of our true worship and obedience (2 Corinthians 13:14).

* We teach that God the Father, the first person of the Trinity, is in control of all things of the universe, according to His own purpose and grace (1 Corinthians 8:6). We teach that Jesus Christ, the second person of the Trinity, is divine, coequal, co-eternal, omnipotent, infallible, and inerrant in all of His ways: that He was literally God incarnate, and that he surrendered only the prerogatives of deity, not the divine essence of deity, and that in His incarnation, the eternally existing second person of the Trinity accepted all the essential characteristics of humanity, and in so doing, became the God-man (Philippians 2:5-8). We teach that the Holy Spirit is a divine, eternal person, possessing all of the attributes of personality and deity; and that He is coequal and co-substantial with the Father and the Son (Matthew 28:19).

* We teach that salvation is wholly of God by grace on the basis of the redemption of Jesus Christ, and by merit of His shed blood…and not on the basis of human merit or works (John 1:12).

* We teach that every believer is Sanctified(set apart) unto God by justification and is therefore declared to have Holy Spirit alive inside of them. Sanctification is both instantaneous(at salvation) and progressive(the believer is progressively being set apart in ongoing life).

* We teach that Angels are created beings and are therefore not to be worshiped…that even though they are a higher order of creation than man, they are created to serve God and worship Him as they support and communicate to us n the physical life (Hebrews 2:6-7).
