A Message From Suzanne:
My name is Suzanne Blaine and I have been the music director at New Hope Baptist Church for over 11 years. My responsibilities include selecting , overseeing, preparing and directing the adult and youth choirs, congregational hymn selections and scheduling special music. I work closely with the Pastor, Deacons and other staff members to ensure that music, whether it is hymns or special music , are covered for every service that we have. I have been singing in church since the age of 3 and now share that love with my husband Jim, of 15+ years. He also plays guitar, sings in the church choir and runs our sound system. We have a son named Tanner, who is currently serving in the U.S. Army and a daughter named Ashley, who lives with her husband David and daughter Emma in Spotsylvania. We also live in Spotsylvania where I am a school bus driver for the Spotsylvania County Schools. In our spare time we enjoy spending time together with our 6 dogs and taking day trips. We believe that God has placed us at NHBC and given us the talent to be workers in His fields.
I believe that music prepares the heart of those who worship to receive the revelation of God through His Word and by His Spirit. Music is an experience that can prepare people for worship but can be a worship experience in itself. Church music should lift up the name of Jesus in a clear and concise way. The message in the songs is important because scripture, theology, and Christian principles can all be taught through sacred songs. Music in the church should not be used to showcase one’s own talents but should be used to present the ultimate gifts that Jesus Christ has to offer including, but not limited to, salvation and an eternal home in heaven.
If you believe that God is calling you to be a part of the music ministry at New Hope Baptist Church, we would love to talk to you about serving in the music ministry.
